1) Where should I start looking for potential breakout stocks ? Where do you guys search and research stocks that are about to breakout ?
Please check out
http://www.breakoutpickr.com( the home site of this community). We provid lot of tools for you to spot the breakouts before they break out.
http://breakoutpickr.com/TodayBreakouts/TodayBreakouts.aspx provides the current trade setups. All these picks are automatically generated by our software. You can go through these initial picks and see what suits you. For example, I like to trade small caps with exposive growth. I just pick the small caps from that list.
You can use the stocks forming bases
hereto get an idea of the future setups. You can go through this list and keep the stocks that you like on your watchlist. When the actual breakout happens, you can buy that breakout.
You can use the
screener to do a custom search. Look
here for an example of how to use the screeener.

2) What is the criteria that you use to find breakout stocks ?
Our site shows only the breakouts. So you will find pretty much any breakout that is happening. As we cannot trade everything, we need to find stocks which suit our style. That's when the manual work starts. Our system will try to reduce the work for you. But, a trader still has to do homework in figuring out the earnings, catalysts, sector performance etc.
You can use the
StockCheck tool to do the homework. It gives you the breakout pivot, chart, stock analysis and the related stocks.

3) How/Where do you identify sectors that are doing good ? for e.g. in the past we have seen Airlines, Casinos, Education etc.
If you look at 50-100 charts everyday from the above tools, you will soon develop a feel for what kind of stocks are basing and what kind of stocks are breaking out. For example, if LVS, WYNN and MGM are all breaking out, it means that it's a sector move and is more pwerful than an individual stock move. When you find a breakout, look for it's related stocks from the"stock check/related stocks" tool. If most of the stocks in that sector are behaving the same way, you can deduce that it could be a sector move.

4) If I am able to identify a sector, how do I find potential stocks in that sector ?
Usually, I find a stock and see how other stocks in that sector are doing rather than going from top down.
